The continuing push by big solar to buy up farmland and cover it in massive solar farms is going on everywhere. In upstate New York, Alexandra Fasulo is fighting an 1,800-acre solar project near Fort Edwards, New York with mixed results so far, but she has done an enormous amount of research and even founded a non-profit to raise funds to hire attorneys to help small towns fight these developments. She has made videos and written numerous articles that point to many resources worth digging into. Her Substack, House of Green, details her methods of earning an income on her farm and has a lot of great information, including coverage of her solar fight.
The video below gives a very detailed rundown of what is going on and what she has run into. You’ll find a lot of similarities to what has been encountered in Venango Township, a big corporation creates a new friendly name for the company involved in the specific local project and utilizes lots of attorneys and legal help for the corporation to overwhelm the small town under attack. They throw money at farmers to get them to sell their land and ignore a lot of local laws and regulations while fighting them as being too restrictive. She also shows how the corporations are developing strategies for fighting the towns. There’s more, but it’s better to hear it from her.
There are a lot of very helpful and informative links in the article linked below, check it out.
